The Vulcan Crucible Steel Company was founded in 1901 and produced high grade tool steel. In the 1940's, the Forge was also involved in processing uranium for the US government, to aid in the development of atomic weapons. The Wolfram line was billed as the "first multiple alloy high speed steel". The company retained it's original name until 1955, and this piece was found with other items dating from the 1930's to 1940's.
One and 1/2" across at its widest point, nice looking embossed metal holder. Not many Vulcan Crucible Steel Company items out there, and even less of the Wolfram line. Please check out my store for more hard to find vintage collectibles!
