    Description

    This is a vintage Vulcan 50 lb anvil.  It's solid without any cracks, the edges are pretty crisp, it doesn't have much ring when hammering, and it has acceptable rebound for its size.  Vulcan anvils have a hardened steel face welded to a cast iron body.  Unfortunately a previous owner must have used it in a student shop, because there are shallow cuts, dings, and drilled holes randomly across it.  But there is still plenty of usable work surface and I didn't notice it affecting my forged surfaces.
    I'm including a hardy hot cut tool that fits this anvil, one of my early forgings (O1 tool steel).
    5/8" square hardy hole, 1/2" diameter pritchel hole.  The face measures 8-5/8" x 3", and is 14-1/2" long from horn to heel.
