Vintage Elgin American Black & Gold Art Deco Compact w/Mirror.
This lovely little vintage compact measures 3" X 2 3/8" X 3/8" deep. It is made of brass with original black painted front and back. It has one curved corner and the edge near the hinge is bull-nosed or rounded giving it that true Art Deco look.
It shows some wear on the edges and there's a small dent in the brass in the monogram rectangle. The outer closure button works perfectly and the hinges are tight and strong.
The original mirror is discolored around the edges with age and the adhesive that holds it in place can be seen through the mirror where it's damaged the mirror backing.
The internal closure that opens the powder compartment works perfectly and the hinges are perfect as well. Inside it has the original plastic liner and some remnants of powder.
It's a useful and beautiful item that could be displayed or used. Happy bidding.
