Vintage Castanets from India, Brass with Embossing, Heavy Rhythm Instrument

Description

This is a wonderful pair of heavy cast brass castanets from India. Aside from their use as a percussion instrument, they are beautiful to look at,with symbols embossed on the outside - including a flower, elephant, fish, mandalas, etc - and engraved on the inside. Each is 2.5" in diameter. Connected with a leather thong, they are played by wrapping the leather around your hand to get tension and clicking the castanets. But can just be displayed instead - so pretty!
