    Description

    Railroad Track Anvil for Knifemakers, Jewelers, Blacksmiths.
    Roughly 25 Pounds
    13 inches long  (Tip of Horn)
    5 Inches Tall
    Top is 2-1/8 Wide
    Base is 4-1/2 wide.
    Top is machined flat, then machine ground to produce an accurate, level, defect free surface that won't mar your work.  This is very important, hard to make a straight knife on an anvil with a curved top.  Most railroad track has a slightly curved profile.  Sides are painted high temp black.  Ends are saw cut.  This anvil has a 'horn' shape to give it a more traditional anvil look.  There are 4, 3/4 holes in the base for mounting.
    These are made from the rails of a retired CNC plate cutting machine.  They are top quality, hard, steel.  I have sold dozens and have had a number of repeat buyers with no complaints.  Honestly the amount of machine work involved in making them far exceeds what I'm charging.  It only works out because I make them when the machines would otherwise be idle.  There isn't a whole lot of this rail material left, and once it's gone, there will be no more.
