This auction is for the five (5) items pictured and described here. Each is a
12.5" x 19" issue of the Illustrated Current News
- a one-page news publication that was typically posted in store windows to attract potential customers.
I do not know if these are original issue, or reproductions
. They have a bit of a glossy finish, and are in very good condition, with no creasing, holes, or other damage. They do not have folds down the middle, as some I've seen listed have. I picked up a collection a few years ago, and decided to sell some of them in lots now.
Three of the sheets feature golf, including some of the biggest names in the sport -
Byron Nelson, Gene Sarazan, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead
, and others. The other two focus on horse racing, with the
Kentucky Derby
. The years are 1934, 1940 (2), and 1941 (2). Very cool collectables, particularly if you are a fan of this era!
