Ian Fleming (James Bond 007) Typed Letter Signed
Description:
TLS : Typed Letter Signed
Author of the James Bond novels. Typed Letter Signed, signed "Yours ever, Ian Fleming," one page, 8 x 10, Kemsley House letterhead, September 21, 1955. Letter to journalist and spy Antony Terry of the British Press Centre, in full: "Many thanks for your letter and for the background to your London visit. I don't think there is any possibility of Brandon unseating you or indeed any other of our correspondents, and I think the whole story is gossip. Henry is badly needed in Washington and I think it is most unlikely that the Chairman would allow him to move from there. Many thanks for your Atticus which has just come in. Please keep up the good work." Fleming has added the salutation in his own hand. In very good condition, with overall creasing, and two file holes to the left edge. While working as foreign manager of the Kemsley newspaper group's Sunday Times, Fleming hired Terry to be posted in Germany. Utilizing this legitimate news organization as a cover, Fleming also ran an intelligence outfit known as Mercury which used foreign correspondents to gather information in sensitive foreign zones-Terry was one such correspondent. This particular letter was written roughly five months after the release date of Fleming's third James Bond novel, Moonraker.
