Description

Before I met Kamil and commissioned him to create the series of New Jersey subjects he produced for the Senator I worked for at the time, he had done a few subjects for someone else and this gorgeous serigraph print is one of them.  This is DRUMTHWACKET, the Governor's Mansion in Princeton, New Jersey and one of the state's most breathtaking landmarks........a gorgeous structure both inside and out.  This serigraph print from the original pastel shows people on the huge front lawn of this historic home which is the private residence provided to the state's Governor and his/her family.   Like many of Kamil's beautiful subjects, only a few remain available for sale.
This print would make an amazing gift and like all of Kamil's art, it's detailed and gorgeous.  If you are involved in New Jersey Politics, love this city or know someone who does, then this is for you.  It would look wonderful in any office or home.   If you are connected in any way to this institution, this print may be for you.    Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and I have written some of my background with Kamil below so you can feel 100% comfortable buying Kamil's art from me.  It is important to me that you do so with confidence, knowing it is genuine and that buying from me is almost like buying from Kamil himself.  He handed prints to me periodically before he died to help me with my kids schooling.......typical Kamil.   He had the biggest heart and I adored him.
What an amazing gift this would make for someone who has a connection to this location.   If you have no interest in this particular subject then please keep checking.   I will be posting a few originals, which, now that he is gone,  are quite rare, as well as some of his greatest prints.
BACKGROUND / HISTORY
I met Kamil while working for the State of New Jersey.  We had decided to try to find a talented artist who might accept a project that would memorialize some of our State's most recognizable....interesting locations.  The collection would ultimately hang inside the State Capitol Building where it would remain for years to come.  My boss had a friend who owned a collection of paintings by a well known Czech Impressionist, Kamil Kubik.  A lunch was arranged for us to meet and the rest is history.  I adored this artist, his temperament and above all else, his work.  My mother was Czech so Kamil and I had an immediate connection that turned into a lifelong friendship.  He gladly accepted our project and once it ended (which took almost 10 years since we commissioned only one painting  per year)  Kamil, his wife Joanna and I continued to maintain a deep, strong friendship.  We visited often and shared numerous holidays.  Kamil was an extremely accomplished artist but typically, not so great a businessman.   I began helping , peacefullyhim to market his work and it was during those years that he began to give me  some of his more popular prints and a few of his originals as well.    I I still love his art and never get tired of looking at his unique, impressionistic style.  I am selling things now to help my son pay for college which, as many of you understand, can be difficult to handle.  I love almost everything Kamil created and deciding what to part with has been extremely difficult.  Each one reminds me of Kamil.  He was truly a wonderful person, spoke 5 languages and loved New York City.  He did projects for the NY YANKEES,  DONALD TRUMP,  WALL STREET ORGANIZATIONS,  THE PLAZA HOTEL and he created a world wide series of paintings of hotels for THE RITZ CARLTON HOTEL organization.  Everyone loved Kamil's easy, impressionistic style.  He could create a complete piece of art in an afternoon but would continue to work on it FOREVER.  He never felt like his work was finished.   As always, he would start his day with a swim at the local Y, practice his YOGA and then begin working in his studio.  Sadly, on a particular Fall morning, he suffered a serious stroke that left him paralyzed and ultimately in need of 24 hour care.  It was a devastating turn for this man who had lived such a strong, active and healthy life.  From his wheel chair, he continued selling most of what he had created but because of his stroke, his gift for creating was gone.  In 2011 he was in the hospital with pneumonia and shortly after,  passed away.  Along with some of his closest friends, I had continued to help him during that horrifying time and was blessed to be the person who was sitting with him on the evening he died.   I still miss him terribly but am surrounded by this beautiful art which keeps him and his spirit present.  The WORLD CUP SOCCER hangs in my kitchen and is a favorite of both of my sons.  My husband is a Veteran and loves THE BATTLESHIP NEW JERSEY which was part of the NJ series I had commissioned him for NJ so long ago.  We all love THE NY YANKEES, CAPE MAY,  THE BARNEGAT LIGHTHOUSE, the NJ STATE HOUSE, Washington DC, this WALL STREET series and so many more.   I have the original painting of THE MORRISTOWN GREEN which is exceptional and I will be listing soon.  The majestic WASHINGTON DC subjects were done because of Kamil's close friendship with First Lady BARBARA BUSH and PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH.  THE INAUGURATION(of President Bush) may be Kamil's finest work along with the US CAPITOL and more.  I know this is long....but I want people to know who Kamil was, what he did and how much I loved being a part of his life.  Please ask any questions, I am happy to try to help if possible.   I promise you will love anything you buy of Kamil Kubik's work and for sure, he would love that you wanted something he created.  I'm sure he is still painting somewhere!!!  :)
This print is signed by the artist but not numbered.
