1965 Shelby Cobra by Backdraft Racing - Black with White Stripes and a Two-Tone Red and Black Interior. ONLY 8,500 Miles from NEW! The Backdraft Racing Cobra Roadster is manufactured and assembled in Durban, South Africa. It arrives as a complete automobile less the Engine and Transmission and is sold through distributors to the customer. The Drivetrain in this one was installed by the distributor, Custom Cars in Boynton Beach, Florida who also added the options selected by the customer. The rolling Chassis was completed in 2004, the same year the drivetrain was completed and has a factory issued VIN. The engine is a Ford Performance Engineering 351 Based bored and stroked small block 427 producing approx. 400 horsepower. The engine was selected in order to keep the car as close as possible to Carroll Shelby's favored original idea utilizing a small block engine that certainly looks the part. It has just the right amount of usable power for a car this size that weighs in at only 2,530 pounds, plus it simply looks like you stepped back in time to 1965! There is plenty of Grunt and just the right amount of deep Rumpity-Rump when you fire it up! Of course, it sports Black Cobra Valve Covers with matching Air Cleaner and Stainless-Steel Headers, Side-Pipes and Heat Shields. Next comes a Tremac World Class T-5 Transmission that enables effortless cruising at high speed while keeping the revs down where they belong, yet the gear ratios take full advantage of the cars power, making it FUN to DRIVE at ANY Speed. Power goes to a 3.10 Posi-Traction Rear and on to a BMW E-36 Independent Rear Suspension. The Cobra has the optional upgraded Wood Steering wheel as well. 17 Inch Knock-Off Style ET III Wheels complete the period look. This Cobra was ordered with White Stripes and Number Circle with Rookie Red-Hash Marks so that it could be made to look like the Australian Racing Team cars form the 60's. You cannot take this car outside without causing every head to turn! Nearly everyone gives it a Thumbs-Up when they see it even just sitting still!
