Named after famed Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto, the DeSoto brand was presented to consumers as a highly-style high-performance mid-priced vehicle. For the majority of their time on the market, DeSotos had technologies that were both novel and functional, drawing wide consumer appeal. With forward thinking design and novel marketing, including advertising by the once hugely popular Groucho Marx, the DeSoto was able to withstand more than one economic recession and closely trail sales of other like makes. Late in the 1957 model year cycle, Desoto determined that the Adventurer model would have a Convertible option. It was so late in the model year cycle that Desoto simply inserted a loose page in the Adventurer owner's manual for convertibles that welcomed convertibles owners into the "elite Adventurer family" As the convertible was introduced late, Desoto only produced 300 of them in 1957. Today, there are believed to be approximately 18 known '57 convertibles remaining in the United States.
This 1957 Adventurer Convertible, the first year that the Adventurer was offered in a convertible, is an example of a stunning restoration. Finished in Adventurer Gold and Ivory, flowing to a complimenting Adventurer interior, this Adventurer is very well equipped. Options include self-seeking Radio with dual antennas, steering wheel clock, padded dash, power windows, power front seat, power steering, power brakes and gold "DS" hubcaps. Fire up this Adventurer and the 345ci 345hp HEMI roars. Drive down the road and feel the smooth shift of the push-button automatic transmission. Front to back, inside and out, this Adventurer will not disappoint. It is an example of a truly rare automobile that has been restored to the highest standard.
Research indicates the car's trim tag decodes as follows:
    BDY: 563 - Adventurer Convertible
PNT: LPL - Surf White Roof, Adventurer Gold Body, Surf White Lower Body Sweep
TRM: 546 - Special Adventurer Gold Trim
    PS: 4 - Power Seats
AH: 4 - Fresh Air Heater
    PW: 5 - Power Windows
    SS: 9 - Stone Shields
    BG: 3 - Bumper Guards
Unless stated otherwise, vehicle mileage on title is exempt and unknown if original.
