If you’re looking for a project car that needs finishing, we have a candidate for you at MotoeXotica Classic Cars. This 1940 Packard 110 Touring Sedan has begun the restomod process, but it needs some TLC to finish the job.
This example was originally made on October 3, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan and was initially delivered to Sycamore, Illinois. It is one of 62,300 Model 110s sold in 1940.
This car is dressed in dark blue and the paint and trim are in over excellent order. The bodywork is straight and solid and the engine bay is very tidy and note the rear coach doors, hinged at the back. The chrome bumpers fit tightly to the car’s body. Note the absence of a hood, headlights and windshield wipers.
This sedan rolls on Uniroyal Tiger Paw radials, size 205/70R15 in front and 235/75R15 in back, all are in very good order. Each one is mounted on a wire wheel.
Motivation in this Packard has undergone some changes. Gone is the standard 245 CID inline six-cylinder motor from the factory. In its place is a General Motors 454 CID V-8 engine (75-89 series). Chrome parts include carburetor, high-flow water pump, distributor and Edelbrock valve covers. There is also a Walker radiator and a Power Master starter. The engine breathes via two Flowmaster exhausts. Driver convenience features include vintage air-conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power locks, power windows, power driver’s seat, tilt steering column and power antenna.
The interior is a work in progress and where the car needs the most attention. The dashboard is partially finished. A Kenwood AM/FM stereo resides in the dash with a 640-watt amplifier. There’s a column-mounted shift lever, no inner door liners, a LeCarra Banjo three-spoke steering wheel, mounted on an Ididit steering column facing the driver and an array of VDO gauges. There’s no headliner, no carpeting and barely a front bench seat, with a floral bedsheet.
The Packard Eighteenth Series One-Ten was a range of six-cylinder automobiles produced by the Packard Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan during the 1940 and 1941 model years. The One-Ten designation was renamed from the previous Packard Fifteenth Series Six (115-C). The One-Ten shared the wheelbase of the One-Twenty but was given the One-Ten designation to indicate it was the entry level product.
Documentation includes two photos of the car, various maintenance receipts and a list of parts investments worth more than ,000.
