Description
This is a three-page original Depression era press release (see first page in picture) from the 1934 CAMPAIGN of MICHIGAN GOVERNOR FRANK FITZGERALD. At the time of this press release in April 1934, Frank Fitzgerald was Michigan's Secretary of State, a position he resigned to run for Governor. He was elected Governor in the Fall of 1934, and served a two-year term. He was defeated for re-election in 1936, then elected Governor again in the Fall of 1938. Sadly, Governor Fitzgerald served less than three months of his second term; he passed away on March 16, 1939. This press release was to announce the names of the members of the Fitzgerald for Governor Committee. There is a two-page narrative, followed by a third page listing the committee members and their hometowns. There is an error corrected in ink on the first page, and a name added to the committee in ink on the third page. This document is authentic; it was purchased at the Fitzgerald estate auction in Grand Ledge, Michigan. It is clean and intact, exhibiting light wear and discoloration from handling and storage over the past 77 years. It would make a nice addition to your own collection, or it would make a wonderful gift for that Governor Fitzgerald enthusiast, Michigan historian, or vintage ephemera collector in your life! Postage is .50. And, of course I'll combine postage on multiple purchases. Be sure to check the other items in my eBay store, too!
