    The event was held at the State Capitol on Tuesday evening, January 20th, 1925

    Ferguson
    was one of the first two women (along with Nellie Tayloe Ross, Governor of Wyoming) to be elected as governor of a state. She served two non-consecutive terms as the first female Governor of Texas, from 1925 to 1927 and 1933 to 1935.
    She was integral to an exceptional tale of the Texas governorship beginning with her husband,
    James Edward "Pa" Ferguson Jr.'s election to the office in 1915
