Description
This 1907 medal (or medal fob) is a souvenir of the inauguration of Edwin S. Stuart as the Governor of Pennsylvania, and it most likely was the fob (or drop) of a badge worn at the inauguration. The front side has a very high-relief (three-dimensional) bust of Stuart, with the wordsIN COMMEMORATION OF THE INAUGURATION OF EDWIN S. STUART 26TH GOVERNOR OF PENNSYLVANIA JAN. 15 A. D. 1907
. [NOTE: There is an error in this wording! Stuart actually was the 24th Pennsylvania governor - not the 26th.] The reverse has a detailed image of the state Capitol building, with the words
THE CAPITOL OF PENNSYLVANIA AT HARRISBURG DEDICATED OCTOBER 4, A. D. 1906
. There is no mark for manufacturer or metal content, but the composition is aluminum with a very bright silver surface. This item was a proof strike, with frosted design elements and very bright, reflective fields. T
he size is approximately 38 x 43 mm (1-1/2 x 1-11/16").
This item is in very fine condition, with no apparent actual wear, signs of handling, and limited soiling, and it remains very bright.
The illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item being offered for sale, serving as part of the description. NOTE: The actual item has a very good silver color, is much lighter in color, is much brighter, and is more attractive than in the photos.
