The head badge on the bicycle reads,
    "ROAD KING
    1897
    A. FEATHERSTONE & CO CHICAGO"
Up for auction is a beautifully crafted Chicago manufactured A. Featherstone and Co. Turn of the century road bicycle. The bicycle model, Road King, is reflected in the 1897 stamped logo on the lovely crafted copper head badge- a detailed King's crown.

    Unique Frame Feature
An exciting feature of this bicycle's design allows separating the seat to stay at the seat post fastening.
    Bicycle Fork
The head tube is extra large at 12 inches. I've noted that the 1" steering tube is extended 5 inches from the original top threads.
The Fork legs measure 15.5" from the bottom forks to the base of the crown. The crown is 3.125 inches wide. and The closed dropouts are 4.125" outside width and 3.75 inside. The rake of the fork is 2.5 inches. The total length of the knife is 29 inches.
    Bicycle Seat
This seat, 'The Christy,'  is a smaller size made for women or smaller riders
    Stamped on top rear:
    "The Christy
    Patented JAN 15, 95  MARCH 19, 95
    JUN 19, 95  US 24 97"
    Bicycle Tires
The tire rubber is dry and, especially at creases, is flaking off.
Each of the two tires has a distinct tread style; a circle pattern and the other a chain-linked pattern.
Both tires have excessive dry rot damage. The chain-linked tire is better overall than the circle tread tire, which is creased hard, warped, and flaking easily. The more presentable but still-damaged chain-linked tire has a large puncture/tear and a large crack along its side- as its worst damages. Please see the images.

    Bicycle Stem
The quill and wedge-style bicycle stem have a 1-inch handlebar clamp diameter.  The wedge has two chips in the top inlet.
    Bicycle Handlebars
The 1-inch diameter handlebar ends are 18.5 inches wide with a 9" sweep. The bottom of the handlebars has some rust pitting which I will include in the updated photos on Tuesday.
